CLECKHEATON SHOTOKAN KARATE CLUB
Karate (empty hand) is a martial art brought to Europe by the direct students of Gichin Funakoshi who was the founder of Shotokan Karate Do. At Cleckheaton Karate Club students can be welcomed into a friendly atmosphere where our philosophy is ' we train simply to get better '.
Through the teachings of the English Shotokan Academy, our instructors have gained valuable knowledge of how to teach the fundamentals of Kasa Ha Karate Do.
We train in a no pressure environment where we help karate students develop their skills at their own pace. This environment allows karateka to train with us and develop aspects of their karate devoid of the pressure of having to follow strict rules of how to undertake karate techniques.
We encourage people to train and learn how to defend themselves without having to perform complex athletic moves, we are not all built the same way.
We train every Monday 6.30 to 8.30 pm at Liversedge Parish Centre, Halifax Road, Liversedge, WF15 6PS. We invite beginners through to experienced karateka to train with us.
Please feel free to contact our instructors through our contact page.
Our club follows the teachings of the late Sensei Taiji Kase. We are taught this knowledge from being affliated to the English Shotokan Academy who are strongly connected with the KSKA ( Kase Ha Shotokan Karate Do Academy )
We have the privilege of training with the Chairman of the English Shotokan Academy, Sensei Mike Fedyk 7th Dan who through this association holds an annual residential course at the National Sports Centre for England at Lilleshall, Shropshire.
On this prestigious course we train with many highly respected instructors including Sensei Dirk Heene 8th Dan who is the current chairman of the KSKA and one of Sensei Kase's direct students.
